Ghanian actress who is also a Nollywood household name, Yvonne Nelson during an interview lamented that envy and jealously among actors and movie producers is killing the movie industry.

Yvonne during the interview with Ghana’s Suncity FM, spoke about her ban back in 2010 by the Film Producers Association of Ghana claiming the movie industry is suffering especially the English-speaking sector which she described as curently limping on ‘one-leg’ and is in danger of a total collapse.

“It looks like there is too much envy in the movie industry. Instead of focusing on building the industry, when something happens and it is negative, they want to capitalize on it. It is like everybody wants to suck your blood out. When something is negative then they are happy. It saddens me and that is why we are where we are now. The movie industry is like on one leg. A year will come that we will shoot only two English movies,” Yvonne Nelson said.

The actress further said that, “It is because of jealousness. It is that attitude that when someone does something, they say that that person is being too known… we are not united.”

Yvonne Nelson was banned about five years ago from appearing in any Ghanaian or Nigerian movie over her accumulation of several alleged incidents of her being disrespectful and rude towards her colleagues.
